Consumers still like to see and touch fresh produce before purchasing
-
30 September, 2009, InternetRetailing.net:
“New research shows that, while 11% of consumers regularly buy groceries online, 83% like to be able to see and touch fresh produce before making a purchase and 66% say they prefer not to buy fresh food over the web as they are concerned about use-by dates.
These findings will, to some extent, reach beyond groceries. How many men don’t shop for clothes on the web because they’re not sure about fit? And would you buy jewellery or a painting or a potted plant sight unseen? It’s clear there’s a lot more business to be had if we just keep working to calm consumers’ fears with new technologies, innovative ways of putting products into their hands, and ever-friendlier returns policies.”
